On the other hand, if your product or service draws attention to the intended interaction between the user &amp; your brand, makes the user take action like its<strong>&nbsp;\u2018obvious\u2019<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 you\u2019ve most likely nailed the design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637066\/design-thinking-primer-min.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-is-design-thinking\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>WHAT IS DESIGN THINKING?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Design thinking is a human centered approach to design, starting with observation &amp; empathy. Design thinking starts with empathy and empathy starts with observation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637067\/Design-Thinking-Why-it-matters-sensory-input-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re observing the subject, be self aware of your own biases blinding you from capturing the observations effectively. For example, when you\u2019re observing a 30 year old mother to design a new service for mothers, your own thoughts &amp; emotions as a mother may interfere with what you see, while observing your subject. It\u2019s important to be aware of your cognitive biases, so it doesn\u2019t affect the empathy exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you identify the need, you can iteratively prototype your solution and show it to your users to get early feedback, Through iterative progression and learning, you continuously evolve your solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637068\/Design-Thinking-Why-it-matters-stages-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The solution should also be a self sustainable business and achievable by the technologies available today.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637067\/Design-Thinking-Why-it-matters-emotion-function-innovation-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"design-thinking-success-1-airbnb\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><br>DESIGN THINKING SUCCESS #1: AIRBNB<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2009, Airbnb was on the verge of shutting down \u2013 barely making $200 per week. When the founders looked at the how users were using the platform, why bookings were not happening and what added friction for a user to proceed with a booking \u2013 a pattern emerged revealing a human behavior \u2013 \u201clack of clarity, fear of the unknown\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Users were not able to see what they were paying for.&nbsp;<\/strong>The photos of properties were not of high resolution as hosts took photos on their low resolution phone cameras and uploaded them to list their property. Also, Airbnb had worried about \u201cscaling\u201d to multiple cities fast, which made them push hosts to manage photos instead of Airbnb manually curating them. But they soon realized the cost they paid for low quality photos was high.&nbsp;Founders then, flew to New York \u2013 shot HD photographs of properties and uploaded them to the Airbnb app. To their surprise, bookings doubled immediately. Listening to their user\u2019s frustrations, anxieties, defenses and motivations \u2013 Airbnb was able to successfully scale their business to multiple countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background wp-element-button\" style=\"border-radius:5px;background-color:#006eff\">SERVERLESS : BUSINESS ON THE CLOUD<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637068\/design-thinking-airbnb-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637067\/design-thinking-airbnb-revenue-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"design-thinking-success-2-nike\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>DESIGN THINKING SUCCESS #2: NIKE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nike observed it\u2019s users and noted a trend \u2013 athletes who loved comfort in their daily sports wear also loved style inspiration from luxury fashion brands. Nike\u2019s design innovation team merged these two \u2013 the love for sports and fashion, functionality and inspiration and created products that users loved to own and sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637068\/design_thinking_nike-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Nike also observed in the middle-east, women were comfortable wearing a \u201chijab\u201d. Nike decided to make sports more \u201ccomfortable\u201d and closer to how women dressed at home or work, and launched the world\u2019s first ever hijab. It\u2019s Nike\u2019s design thinking culture that pushed them to listen to their users more closely than their competitors ever did \u2013 that made them succeed as a unique, innovative sportswear brand for over 25 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637068\/design-thinking-nike-revenue-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637068\/Design-Thinking-revenue-growth-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"re-design-disaster-snapchat\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>RE-DESIGN DISASTER: SNAPCHAT<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Snapchat was once a highly popular social app among young users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637068\/design-thinking-snapchat-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, the company released a re-designed version of the app, which mixed up professional content and friends\u2019 content, making it hard to \u2013&nbsp;<em>find my friend\u2019s recent stories that may soon disappear from my feed<\/em>. This led to a 73% drop in user sentiments and about 1.3 million people signed a petition to bring back the old design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cBLURRING THE LINES BETWEEN PROFESSIONAL CONTENT CREATORS AND YOUR FRIENDS HAS BEEN AN INTERESTING INTERNET EXPERIMENT.\u201d \u2013 SnapChat\u2019s founder<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/codewavetechnologies\/image\/upload\/v1662637069\/design-thinking-snapchat-founder-min.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the above 2 case studies (of Airbnb and Nike), we saw how continuously listening to your users can enable your business to consistently innovate and thrive.
